“In the Pocket is an exploration of sound, highlighting the evolution and intergenerational art that is jazz music.”
Saturday’s Nights at 10pm on 91.9 wfpk
In the Pocket (ITP) first made its debut in 2016 on the University of Kentucky’s student-run radio station Radio Free Lexington, WRFL. Destiny Carter known on the radiowaves as “Lady Dee”, has been an advocate for educating communities on the expansiveness of jazz music as America’s music, and its influences from Black culture and beyond. From Hard Bop to Hip-Hop, Blues to RnB, and Fusion to House, the metamorphosis of Jazz music is apparent in most of the popular music we know and love today. Currently airing on Louisville Public Media every Saturday night from 10pm to midnight, join Lady Dee to deep-dive into a world of improvisation, harmony, soul, and rhythm.
